In response to the U.S. Senate’s vote to repeal suspension of tariffs on solar panels from four Southeast Asian nations — legislation expected to receive a presidential veto — SAFE Founder and CEO Robbie Diamond issued the following statement:
“Companies will not make the multi-billion-dollar investments in America if they think the U.S. won’t have their back by supporting those investments. We must back up the message of wanting to build a U.S. supply chain with action – even if it is difficult and complicates some deployments. If we’re going to talk the talk, we must walk the walk.
The longer we delay, the farther behind America will fall. For this reason, we believe suspending tariffs originally put in place to support a safe, secure and strategic domestic supply chain is the wrong decision.”
