PRESS RELEASE: Rachel McCleery Joins SAFE as Executive Director, Coalition for Reimagined Mobility

McCleery brings experience from Ford Motor Company, Capitol Hill, and the Department of Treasury to advance the local and national dialogue on transportation innovation.

Washington, D.C.—SAFE is proud to announce Rachel McCleery as Executive Director of its Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo). McCleery’s extensive private and public sector experience enhances ReMo’s work to support transportation policies to make the sector safe, energy efficient, and more secure.

McCleery will steward a bipartisan policy dialogue to modernize and improve the transportation system—facilitating regional dialogues around the real-world deployment of groundbreaking transportation technologies as a U.S. strategic asset and national priority. She will draw on deep experience across energy, automotive, and industrial policy, and build on ReMo’s latest AI in Motion report, and other thought leadership.

“From the Midwest to our Nation’s Capital, SAFE and ReMo are uniquely positioned to lead a bipartisan, solutions-focused dialogue on the future of mobility and advanced technologies,” said McCleery. “U.S. leadership in this space is a national security imperative. I’m excited to expand ReMo’s longstanding work while building new partnerships with energy and technology leaders, innovators, policymakers, and communities to deliver on SAFE’s core mission.”

Current Executive Director of ReMo, Avery Ash, will continue his leadership at SAFE, focusing on a broader portfolio in his role as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Special Initiatives, and will continue to advise and collaborate with ReMo. “We are thrilled to have Rachel step into this role at such an important time. She brings the mindset and experience to elevate and scale ReMo’s work at this pivotal moment for transportation technology.”

McCleery’s experience includes leading Ford’s U.S. manufacturing, critical mineral supply chain, and labor policy portfolio while at the company’s Washington, D.C. office, as well as senior appointee roles at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. An automotive industry expert, she hails from Michigan and began her career on the Hill, working for Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI) and U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).
