STATEMENT: SAFE Welcomes Bipartisan Critical Minerals Legislation from House Select Committee on Competition with the CCP

Washington, DC—Responding to the introduction of legislation and a report from the House Select Committee on Competition with the CCP Critical Minerals working group, Abigail Hunter, Executive Director of SAFE’s Center for Critical Minerals Strategy released the following statement:

“America’s security and economic resilience depend on a forward-thinking critical minerals strategy that emphasizes responsible domestic production, workforce development, innovation, advanced recycling, and strengthened collaboration with international partners. SAFE commends the bipartisan efforts of the House Select Committee on Competition with the CCP for advancing this legislative package, which represents a vital step in securing a strategic and sustainable path for U.S. competitiveness in the global economy.”

Hunter provided expert testimony to the Select Committee this year, and her perspective and insights are included in the report. SAFE thanks the Committee for their continued work, and for their recognition that “complex problems like this one require comprehensive, robust, and durable legislative solutions that take time to create and implement.” SAFE looks forward to continuing to engage with bipartisan leaders in both chambers and the incoming Trump administration on addressing America’s critical mineral security challenges.
