In 2018, SAFE released America’s Workforce and the Self-Driving Future, an in-depth, nuanced study of the impacts of widespread autonomous vehicle deployment on the U.S. labor force—as well as quantifying the tremendous benefits this technology will provide.
The policy brief draws upon three comprehensive studies of autonomous vehicles and their impact on society, authored by a diverse array of labor and transportation economists including Dr. Erica Groshen, the former Commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Dr. Susan Helper, the former Chief Economist of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
