Chief Executive Officer, SAFE

Avery Ash is the Chief Executive Officer of SAFE, where he leads the organization’s mission to advance transportation, energy, and supply chain policies that strengthen U.S. economic and national security. In this role, Avery sets SAFE’s strategic direction, oversees its portfolio of policy centers and initiatives, and works closely with policymakers, industry leaders, and SAFE’s Energy Security Leadership Council of senior business and military leaders.

Prior to becoming CEO, Avery served as SAFE’s Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Special Initiatives and as Executive Director of the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo). In these roles, he oversaw ReMo’s strategy and operations while leading SAFE’s engagement with Congress, the White House, and federal agencies on issues spanning advanced transportation technologies, supply chains, and energy and national security. He has played a central role in positioning SAFE as a trusted, solutions-oriented voice at the intersection of national security, industrial policy, and transportation innovation.

Before joining SAFE, Avery was Head of Global Public Policy and Product Strategy at INRIX, the global leader in connected car services and intelligent movement. There, he led global policy and government relations, managed the development of road safety, automated vehicle, and new mobility products, and advised the CEO and Board on strategic partnerships and long-term growth strategy. His work helped shape industry standards, inform government policy, and support investments in emerging mobility technologies.

Earlier in his career, Avery served as Director of Federal Relations at AAA, leading the organization’s advocacy on transportation, vehicle technology, mobility, and energy issues, as well as serving as the motor club’s public voice on oil and gas price markets. Prior to this Avery was on Capitol Hill as Legislative and Special Assistant to Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, following his work in Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he managed a broad portfolio including technology, transportation, financial services, and anti-counterfeiting policy.

Avery has held numerous leadership roles across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including service on the executive working group of the World Economic Forum’s initiative on the Future of Urban and Autonomous Mobility; leadership roles with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Technology Engagement Center; and board service with organizations including the Electric Drive Transportation Association and the Texas Department of Transportation’s Texas Technology Task Force. He is a frequent speaker and widely recognized expert on transportation policy, energy markets, advanced mobility technologies, and the intersection of innovation, security, and economic competitiveness.

Avery is a graduate of Bowdoin College, where he earned a joint degree in Economics and Anthropology.
