Politico: Hickenlooper, Tillis to unveil bipartisan legislation to boost US action on minerals

“Abigail Hunter, executive director of the Center for Critical Minerals Strategy at the energy security think tank SAFE, said in a statement that U.S. efforts to secure critical minerals ‘are still falling short’ in large part because the government has ‘yet to connect the dots’ between its many initiatives.

‘Bridging these gaps through a National Critical Minerals Council is not just an economic imperative — it’s a matter of securing our future in a world where critical minerals dictate global power and security,’ Hunter said.

She also praised Hickenlooper and Tillis’ other bill, contending that the U.S.’ advantage in the race with China is its ‘innovation and ingenuity.’

‘The Unearth Innovation Act will harness that same entrepreneurial spirit to develop new technologies, activate relevant stakeholders, and foster the collaboration needed to meet our challenges head-on,’ Hunter said.
