AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee
Zack Valdez was a 2017-2018 AAAS congressional fellow in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee working with DOE oversight, onshore and offshore federal energy legislation, and following trends in innovative energy and technology policy. Zack’s experience across multiple energy internships on efficient development of unconventional resources, workshops on decision analysis in sustainable climate risk management, and graduate research on the impacts of agricultural management practices for soil carbon storage has provided energy experience across policy, industry, and academia. Zack obtained bachelor degrees in engineering and physics and conducted interdisciplinary STEM PhD research from Baylor University.
